Theoretical Physics Computing Facility

Welcome to the Theoretical Physics Computing Facility at Boston College. This high-performance computing resource supports research and educational activities within the Physics Department as well as a multidisciplinary educational program and several compute-intensive research projects in other Departments on campus.

Our facility comprises a network of several workstations and a high-performance compute-server and was established by Jan Engelbrecht with funding from Boston College and a substantial price-allowance from Sun Microsystems. Our computers all use Sun's UltraSPARC technology and run the Solaris Unix environment.

These networked machines are all accessible remotely and researchers on campus with high-performance computing needs can contact Jan Engelbrecht ( jan@bc.edu ) if they are interested in using our facility.

Our Computing Facility has supported a total of 160 faculty, students and researchers and has contributed in an integral way to more than 50 publications.
